About the Role
Our customers are tough – our gear is tougher. From patches on Jiu Jitsu gis to crash pads for sparring, we produce high-quality goods that are built for any challenge a fighter could face. Sewers at Combat Corner are responsible for industrial sewing projects for customer orders and warehouse inventory. This is an in-person position.
Tasks
- Utilize patterns and templates to complete industrial sewing projects using cotton, polyester, vinyl, and leather
- Monitor machine operation to detect problems such as defective stitching, breaks in thread, or machine malfunctions
- Perform basic equipment maintenance tasks such as replacing needles or cleaning/oiling sewing machines
- Examine and measure finished articles to verify conformance to standards, using rulers and tape measures
- Use heat presses to produce appliques, dye-sublimated patches, and other embellishments
- Communicate with warehousing, screen printing, and sales departments to coordinate project completion to client preferences
Supervisory Responsibilities
Presently, there are no supervisory responsibilities for this role.
Qualifications
Knowledge
- Interpret industrial sewing instructions to create final products from raw materials
- General sewing machine maintenance
- Common sewing procedures such as binding, edging, trimming, etc
Skills
- Safely operate industrial sewing equipment
- Proper use of measuring instruments such as rules and yardsticks
- Proper use of hand tools like scissors, needles, thread, and grommet punches
- Ability to communicate across departments to assess project completion
Abilities
- Sit and/or stand for long periods of time
- Tolerate changing temperatures
- Fluency in English
