On June 21st Resurrection Fighting Alliance 8 will be coming to Milwaukee’s The Rave Eagles Club, headlining the card is one of the most highly anticipated MMA matchups of the year. Milwaukee’s own Sergio “The Phenom” Pettis at just 19 years old will put his 7-0 undefeated record on the line in hopes of winning the first ever RFA flyweight title. Standing across from him will be 35 year old Jeff “Big Frog” Curran; a man who is basically a legend in the sport. Curran has fought for nearly every major organization against the top competitors in the world since turning pro back in 1998, when Sergio was only 4 years old. Despite Curran having a wealth of experience, boasting a 33-15 record; when the cage door closes they are virtually identical. That however is where their similarities will end; “Big Frog” prefers the ground game and the use of his Jiu Jitsu skills to finish fights whereas “The Phenom” prefers to use his kickboxing and his takedown defense to keep the fight standing to look for the big finish. Curran has recently claimed that if he loses this fight he plans on retiring, Pettis has said although he has looked up to Curran he plans on retiring him. For Sergio this fight is more than a title fight but the opportunity of a lifetime to not only win the RFA flyweight title in front of his hometown crowd but also the opportunity to take down a man who has been among the top level fighters in the world for more than a decade, a feat that will add to the legacy of young Sergio Pettis .The fight will air June 21st at 9pm CST on AXSTV or if you are in the Milwaukee area tickets are still available, you don’t want to miss this one!
